Circumstances of a schoolgirl beating in Svetlogorsk have been established

23.07.2021
Svetlogorsk District Department of the Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of the criminal case on the beating of a 15-year-old schoolgirl.

According to the investigation, in April 2021, an employee of the administration of one of the schools in Svetlogorsk, during the monitoring of social networks, found a video recording of the beating of a student at the school and filed a complaint with the juvenile affairs inspectorate of Svetlogorsk District Department of Internal Affairs. After the inspection, the materials about the incident were received by Svetlogorsk District Department of the Investigative Committee for criminal prosecution of the persons who beat the schoolgirl.

It was established that on the afternoon of April 10, 2021 in Svetlogorsk, two groups of strolling teenagers met by chance. In one of them there was a 13-year-old girl who suddenly wanted to sort things out with an old acquaintance she had met. During the conversation, the instigator knocked the victim to the ground and inflicted at least three kicks on various parts of the body. Soon a 14-year-old schoolgirl from the company of a minor ran up and inflicted at least two kicks on the victim, with whom she had once maintained friendly relations. One of the eyewitnesses to the conflict filmed it on a mobile phone. The "warriors" set up the meeting the victim and left.

The next day, the participants in the conflict and their many acquaintances gathered in a forest glade near the building of Svetlogorsk children's art school. The first to approach the victim was a 13-year-old girl, who demonstratively grabbed her by the hair, threw her to the ground and inflicted numerous blows on her body and head with her legs and arms. Then a 14-year-old schoolgirl approached the victim who was lying on the ground and inflicted at least six blows on various parts of her body. A younger schoolboy tried to stop her actions. Pushing the minor away, the student kicked the minor victim at least once. Then a 15-year-old schoolgirl, who was not present at the showdown on April 10, approached the victim and kicked her at least three times on the body.

The process of beating was closely watched by other teenagers: someone laughed and teased, filmed with a mobile phone, someone tried to stop. Subsequently, a video recording of this crime, posted on a social network, was found by a teacher.

All parties to the conflict studied in different schools. The victim was well acquainted with only two attacking girls, with whom she maintained friendly relations several years ago. She knew the third one visually. During the investigation, all three gave inconsistent and contradictory testimonies, adhered to the version that they committed illegal actions, allegedly due to the spread of the victim of impartial rumors about them. This motive was refuted by the materials of the criminal case collected during interrogations, face-to-face confrontations and other investigative actions. The investigation came to the conclusion that the commission of the crime is due to the desire to assert oneself against the background of a closed and quiet schoolgirl, to show own importance and to rise before the closest circle.

In relation to a 13-year-old schoolgirl, initiation of a criminal case was refused due to the fact that she has not reached the age of criminal liability. On the basis of the collected evidence, two other students were charged with commission of a crime under Part 2 Article 339 (malicious hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. The criminal case, after being examined by the prosecutor's office, was referred to Svetlogorsk court.

The court of Svetlogorsk district brought in the verdict of guilty and sentenced the 14-year-old schoolgirl to restriction of liberty for a period of one year without being sent to an open-type correctional institution, and ordered to apply compulsory educational measures in the form of restriction of free time for a period of six months to the 15-year-old schoolgirl. The sentence did not enter into legal force.
