He organized and participated in riots in Minsk: investigation is completed

Frunzensky (Minsk) district department of the Investigation Committee completed the investigation of the criminal case against the organizer and participant of the riots that took place in Minsk in August last year.

According to the investigation, in the period from 9 to 12 August last year, a 25-year-old native of the Mogilev region organized and took an active part in the riots taking place in various parts of the capital, including on Masherova and Pritytskogo streets, Pobediteley and Pushkina avenues. In addition to his personal involvement, he persuaded other protesters to take concrete actions that grossly violate public order, and also called on a large number of citizens and drivers in private vehicles to block transport routes.

In addition, according to the materials of the criminal case, the young man took a direct active part in massacre. Together with unidentified persons, he dismantled a parking box for storing shopping carts in one of the stores. After that, the accused moved several carts to the place where the barricades were erected at the intersection of Pritytskogo and Belskogo streets in Minsk, thereby creating an obstacle for the employees of the internal affairs bodies and resisting the authorities.

During the investigation, the young man explained that he was actively discussing the situation in the capital on destructive Telegram channels, including thus finding out the time and place of unauthorized events.

Video recordings and photographic materials, which recorded the circumstances of the crime, were examined and attached to the materials of the criminal case. Investigators have studied the identity of the accused. The man has previously been convicted of theft, has a secondary education and works as a designer.

According to the results of the investigation, the young man was charged under Part 1 of Article 293 (organization of mass disorders) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus. A preventive measure was applied to him in the form of detention.

The investigation of the criminal case has been completed, the materials have been transferred to the prosecutor for sending to the court.
