Memorandum on cooperation with Drug Enforcement Administration under the United States Department of Justice was signed in Minsk
The ceremony of signing of Memorandum on cooperation between the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus and Drug Enforcement Administration under the United States Department of Justice was held in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus on May 21, 2019.
Signature under the document from the part of Belarus was affixed by the first deputy of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, Aleksey Volkov. On behalf of the Drug Enforcement Administration the memorandum was signed by the regional director, William Warren, Jr.
The deputy of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Yevgeniy Shestakov, US Charge d'Affaires in the Republic of Belarus, Jennifer Moore, the representatives of the concerned Belarusian public authorities, American Embassy, the representative office of the Drug Enforcement Agency in Moscow, the mass media were also present at the ceremony of signing.
It should be noted that cooperation of the Investigative Committee with Drug Enforcement Administration is of constructive nature and is aimed at achievement of practical results.
The working meetings with the management team of the representative office of the Administration in Moscow were held in the Investigative Committee earlier, where the promising areas of cooperation in counter-drug theme, the opportunity of participation of Belarusian investigators in different activities, held with the assistance of the Administration, were discussed.
Following on from the arrangements achieved, the officers of the Investigative Committee in 2018 and 2019 took part in seminars on specified problematics, organized by the Administration in the Russian Federation, as well as in the International conference of law-enforcement authorities on counternarcotic actions, which was held in town of Baku.
In signed memorandum the parties confirmed their mutual striving for further development of cooperation in such areas of activity as exchange of professional experience and different information, mutual informing about the changes of national legislation and investigative practice, organization of working meetings and consultations regarding the topical issues, carrying out of different joints activities, aimed at improvement of professional level of investigators.
Signing of this document will assist expansion of contacts with American part in counternarcotic actions, consolidation of business relationships with law enforcement establishments of the USA.
