The Department of the Investigative Committee for the city of Minsk has completed the investigation of a multi-episode criminal case initiated against Nikolai Dedok.
Investigators, in cooperation with employees of the GUBOPiK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, obtained evidence of the involvement of a participant in the anarchist movement Nikolai Dedok in the commission of a number of crimes, including those provided for by Article 342 (organization and preparation of actions that grossly violate public order) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
According to the investigation, on the afternoon of August 23, 2020, the accused took an active part in an unauthorized mass event in Minsk, during which, realizing the unlawfulness of his actions and showing clear disobedience to the lawful demands of the police, he, together with unidentified persons, violated public peace and blocked traffic.
According to the materials of the criminal case, Nikolai Dedok administered a radical Telegram channel for several years. At the moment, the investigation has incontrovertible evidence that the defendant has committed actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus. In order to achieve this goal, the accused repeatedly distributed various materials on the telegram channel he controls using methods aimed at destabilizing the situation in the country, artificially escalating tension and confrontation in society, and spreading the ideology of extremism. At the same time, the information posted has always been directly addressed to the readers.
In November 2020, the specified man was detained in a rented apartment in Sosnovy village, Osipovichi district, Mogilev region, where he was hiding from law enforcement agencies for a long time. During the search of the dwelling, glass bottles with fuels and lubricants were found and seized, which, according to the conclusion of the State Committee of Forensic Examinations expert, are objects which damaging effect is based on the use of flammable substances.
Investigators have studied the identity of the defendant - the accused is a native of the Gomel region, previously not convicted, divorced, since October 2019 has not been working anywhere.
Upon completion of the investigation, Nikolai Dedok was charged with:
- Part 1 of Art. 342 (active participation in actions that grossly violate public order and are associated with obvious disobedience to the legal requirements of representatives of the authorities, resulting in disruption of transport);
- Part 2 of Art. 361 (distribution of materials containing calls for the commission of actions aimed at causing harm to the national security of the Republic of Belarus, using the global Internet);
- Part 1 of Art. 295-3 (illegal actions in relation to objects, the damaging effect of which is based on the use of flammable substances) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.
The preventive measure applied to the accused earlier in the form of taking into custody did not change.
The investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The materials were handed over to the prosecutor for submission to the court.
