Results of work in the first half of 2021 were summed up at the meeting of the board of the Investigative Committee

In the central office of the Investigative Committee, chaired by the head of the department, Dmitry Gora, was held a board meeting, at which the results of the work of the departments of the agency, the quality state of the investigation and its efficiency in the first half of this year were considered.

Prosecutor General Andrei Shved and Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Rakhmanov also took part in the event.

In his welcome speech, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee Dmitry Gora noted that in the analyzed period in the official activities of the department, the main attention was paid to a set of organizational and practical measures on improvement of work of the committee as a whole. Special attention was paid to the issue of investigation of criminal cases of extremist orientation.

Deputy Chairman Anatoly Vasiliev made a presentation at the meeting, Sergei Pasko, head of the Administration of the Investigative Committee for the city of Minsk, Aleksandr Protosovitsky, head of the investigative department of the Administration of the Investigative Committee for Brest region, and Dmitry Labotsky, head of Grodno interdistrict department, made reports at the meeting.

On the main results of the work

Since August 2020, the main efforts of the Investigative Committee have been focused on identification, suppression and investigation of the circumstances of criminal manifestations associated with illegal mass events, riots, protests, encroachment on state sovereignty and public safety, deliberate destruction and damage of property, violence and threats against officials and their families.

Investigative departments opened 4,691 criminal cases on 4,196 facts of such manifestations.

Among the registered, the largest proportion are crimes stipulated by Article 341 (desecration of structures and damage to property) and Article 369 (insulting a representative of the authorities) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

The measures taken by the department on organization of work on criminal cases of this category made it possible to complete the investigation of 857 criminal cases, of which 825 criminal cases on 1,184 crimes were transferred to the prosecutor for referral to the court.

It should be noted that the departments maintain the efficiency of the investigation of criminal cases, and a balanced approach to the application of preventive measures is provided.

In the practical activities of the Investigative Committee, the automated information system "Sled" (Trace) created in the department has been introduced, which is designed to accumulate and store the most significant information available in the materials of criminal cases, for its subsequent study and analysis, including by establishment of interrelation of individual episodes of crimes with each other.

After the presentations and reports sounded, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus Andrei Shved and Deputy State Secretary of the Security Council, Aleksandr Rakhmanov, focused on certain aspects of the work of the Investigative Committee, which was reflected in the final resolution of the board, and the heads of the investigative divisions were assigned specific tasks from the head of the agency.
«The Investigative Committee, together with the authorities concerned, will continue to identification and prosecution of radicals, extremists, those who encroached on the sovereignty and public security of the country, – Dmitry Gora said in his closing speech. – The responsibility of such persons is inevitable. This was and will be the principled position of the Investigative Committee».

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee also drew attention to the fact that, along with the adoption of additional measures on investigation of criminal cases of an extremist nature, the heads of the investigative divisions need to focus their efforts, including on improvement of investigative activities on cybercrime countering.

At the end of the event, a solemn ceremony of presenting awards to the most distinguished employees of the Investigative Committee took place.
